Preparing for Marriage

Hi Everyone! I know that it has been a few months since I posted a blog. Please forgive me! I am working on some projects that I will be able to announce very soon! I often get asked "How is married life" or "What I wish I had known prior to marriage". There most certainly isn't a manual on how to get it right, and I still have a loooooooooooooong way to go, however there are a few things that I have learned over the past few years that I thought I would share. I have been married 3.5 years now, and got married when I was 21 years old, so this ain't ya grammy's marriage advice LOL. This is millennial advice Ha! But I think it is still valuable. My husband and I have found a passion for helping young couples who desire to get married or are currently experiencing marital difficulties. We have attended several marriage conferences, surrounded ourselves with amazing marriages and we have also trained to facilitate conversation for marriages on the bri...

Welcome To My World!

Hello & Welcome! I have decided to start a blog, and will be committed to updating it at least weekly. I have a lot of thoughts and things I ponder on which I am almost certain aren't too far from things you may think about. My blog will consist of many different topics of discussions: What is it like to be young in the church, relationships in the church, college life, young pursuing marriage, friendships, agriculture, and much more. I am just sharing my experiences and thoughts about life.  I like to talk and if anyone has anything that they would like me to discuss in a blog, please feel free to email me at Shotikasmith7@gmail.com and I will definitely add it to the list (if appropriate). None of these posts will be an attack on any individuals or groups of people, everything will be appropriate and God-centered. Again, welcome and I am excited you are joining me to just have real talk! First blog coming in the next couple of days! Shotika <3

Planning a wedding can be very stressful as when I look back over my experience there is so much that I wish I could do over. I have 3 tips that I believe will be helpful to you as you plan your wedding! (1) Pick your top 3 priorities: This advice was given to me by someone and it was very beneficial in my wedding planning. Pick the 3 things that you feel are the most important for your wedding (Ex. dress, cake, venue, pictures, music, etc.) and focus on these things. My top 3 were my dress, my cake and my pictures. Having this outline, I focused on these things being "perfect" and dedicated much of my budget to these things. Having your top 3 items of importance will help you in allocating your money. Once I had my dress, my photographer, and my cake maker I was relieved and able to foc...
